WE ARE COMMITTED TO NOURISHING THE PLANET

With Earth having lost 1/3 of its forests, the growing global population, the growing carbon dioxide in our atmosphere, increasing extreme weather events, and the slow depletion of our natural resources, moving towards a more sustainable future is no longer a nice-to-have. That's why we have made it part of our core mission to actively help the fight against climate change. We consider the implications of our actions on the planet with everything we do. We are nowhere near satisfied with where we currently are, but we are continuously taking steps as people and as a company to leave a better planet for our future generations.

OUR PARTNERSHIP

We plant a tree for every chia pudding pouch sold.

We are a proud partner with Trees for the Future (TREES). This nonprofit organization trains communities on sustainable land use —so that they can build vibrant regional economies, thriving food systems, and a healthier planet. Read more about our partnership with TREES here.

To date, Trees for the Future has planted over 263 million trees.

Around the world, modern and industrialized farming practices are destroying the environment—and, at the same time, failing to provide reliable income and nourishment for the farmers we all depend on to survive. This is especially true of conventional farming that does not employ organic techniques. TREES recognizes that unsustainable land use is the root cause of our most pressing challenges. TREES confronts these challenges by serving the people at the heart of our global food systems: farmers and their families.

TREES provides hands-on, immersive education, skill building, and support, encouraging farmers to work with nature, not against it. TREES' signature methodology, the Forest Garden Approach, helps farmers transform their land with thousands of fast-growing, ecologically appropriate trees and dozens of other crops, creating new possibilities for themselves and their communities. By embracing sustainable land practices, farmers are reclaiming their agency, breaking the cycles of climate change and generational poverty, and rebuilding our food systems from the ground up.

Trees for the Future has partnered with the United Nations to plant 1 billion trees by 2030.  We are honored  to help them reach this goal.

OUR PACKAGING

We could have made our protein pudding mixes in a single serve package. We know it's more convenient. However, at the rate we are dumping items after a single use, by 2050 oceans will carry more plastic than fish. There is currently so much food packaging in our waterways that the United Nations has declared the plastic pollution of oceans a planetary crisis. Therefore, we decided to prioritize our planet over convenience and put our protein pudding mixes in multi-serve packages. You can add the nourish powder to any cup, add liquid, and stir! And if you want to take it on the go, feel free to use a protein shaker instead. You can then add liquid, shake, and enjoy, with a spoon of course!

WE ARE PLANT-BASED

All of our ingredients are plant-based. Plant-based diets not only help save human lives, but also the planet's life.

If we ate plant-based just one day a week, it would have the same environmental impact as removing 7.6 million cars.

Tiny changes to our diet can have a collective positive impact on our planet.

Even just switching out our protein source has a positive impact. One of Nourish's main source of protein, peas, produce less than 1/100th of the amount of methane and greenhouse emissions as does beef.

WE ARE ORGANIC

We only use USDA certified organic ingredients. That means there is never any herbicides, pesticides, nor fertilizers used to make our products faster at the expense of our planet’s health. Organic ingredients are better for the environment because they lessen harmful erosion,  help trap more carbon in the soil, and contain fewer pesticides that harm water systems.

If 10,000 U.S. medium-sized farms became organic, the carbon they would store in the soil would equal removing 1,174,400 cars.

By Choosing to only work with organic farmers, we hope to encourage more farms to make the leap to organic.

OUR CHIA IS UPCYCLED

Did you know that according to the EPA, as of 2019, 40 tons of food were being wasted in the food and beverage manufacturing and processing sectors annually?

This is a conservative estimate that relies on facility reported data. The true numbers could be much larger.

Upcycling actively helps lower food waste by creating new, high quality food products out of surplus food.

Nourish uses upcycled chia seed powder to create that amazing pudding-like consistency instantly after you add water! As our chia seed suppliers call it, its truly from seed to soul.

Chia seeds are cold-pressed for their ALA-packed oil.

Cold-pressing helps keep the nutrients of the meal and the oil intact by not exposing the chia to high temperatures.

The amazing fiber and protein-packed meal that is left over what we use to make chia pudding.
